Christmas Thornewood Castle Wedding

Weddings

I’m sure I’m not alone with this but I love Christmas time and when Paul & Heather told me about their Thornewood Castle wedding was going to have a Christmas feel to it I was so excited. Thornewood Castle is known for their Christmas decor and the couple asked that they left it all up for the January 2nd wedding. Even though it was after Christmas & the New Year it was still awesome to have a Christmas feel wedding to document. This is the 2nd time I have photographed a Thornewood Castle wedding and hopefully not my last. I love this venue and all it has to offer. Christmas time just brings a whole new element to the Castle.

The day before their wedding it had snowed and I had hoped that it would stick around so we could have some snowy photos but sadly it melted but the day was clear and sunny so even though it was cold the couple still braved and we got to do photos outside after their first look. Because this was a January wedding and the ceremony was inside this was the first but definitely not my last wedding doing off camera flash during the ceremony. Thornewood is actually a perfect location for this kind of lighting, the ceilings are white which makes a perfect for reflecting the flash to give you just a little bit more ambient light. This was also the first wedding I did with off camera flash for the family portraits, I really think this will be my new go to when I am forced to do any sort of portraits on a wedding day inside.

After their short and sweet ceremony, it was time for dinner and the couple to enjoy the small friends and family who came to celebrate their wedding with them. After dancing I really wanted to do some fun night photos with Paul & Heather in Thornewood’s hall of mirrors & some outside with the Christmas lights. This was my first wedding of 2017 and it really was such a great way to start this year off. I am so excited to share this beautiful Christmas Thornewood Castle wedding with you all. And congratulations to Paul & Heather, my 2017 be a great year for you as well!
