Snowy Crystal Mountain Engagement

Engagement

Since the snow started falling in the mountains in November I have been dying to do an engagement session in the snow. Well when Jennifer approached me about doing their wedding and she mentioned they were looking to do their engagement session up at Crystal Mountain in the snow I knew we were a right fit! Jeff & Jennifer are season ticket holders at Crystal Mountain and get up there any day they can to ski. This past December right before Christmas they headed up to the mountain to do just that ski, what Jennifer didn’t know was besides her new skis Jeff had gotten her for Christmas she was also getting a gorgeous ring too. While they were skiing Jennifer & Jeff and one of Jeff’s friends stop at one of their favorite spots on the mountain to take a whiskey break. Jennifer was totally surprised when Jeff got down on his knee and asked her to marry him, the icing on the cake Jeff’s friend video taped the whole thing! After she said yes they headed down to the lodge where all their friends and family were waiting to congratulate them on this new chapter of their lives.

When we started planning the session Jennifer & Jeff were very clear they wanted to do it on a sunny day so when we rode the gondola to the top of the mountain we could get some pictures with Mount Rainier in the background. This year we actually had a winter and that means rain here at sea level & snow or rain up in the mountains so trying to get a nice day up in the mountains can be a challenge. After having to rescheduling once due to the weather we figured we just need to wait on the weather and plan accordingly and basically plan the session within a couple of days of seeing the weather report. Well we lucked out towards the end of February with a streak of sunny days so Jennifer & Jeff took off work and we headed up to Crystal Mountain on a beautiful sunny day. We first did some photos at the bottom near the lodge in the trees off from the ski runs including their adorable dog Lilo too. Then we headed up the gondola to get some amazing epic shots with Mount Rainier in the background. The difference between the temperature at the bottom to the top was pretty dramatic & combining the wind it made it pretty chilly at the top but those views made it all worth it and Jennifer & Jeff were amazing troopers knowing the cold for 20 minutes would be worth it. I am beyond excited for their backyard wedding this summer and so honor to be their wedding photographer!
