Carnival Themed Wedding
You have to be a special couple to be able to successfully pull off a wedding with such a specific theme and more a fun theme. When Danielle & Jake approached me about their wedding I was fully on board with such a unique and fun sounding wedding. If you follow this blog then you will remember their engagement session at the Spring Fair, it was a perfect segway for their carnival themed wedding.
Danielle’s dress was a special one for me, she found it at one of the Brides for a Cause dress sales, I have worked with them several times documenting their sales for them. Her dress was a find, a Cicada dress and for such a steal of only $150! Then had Jake’s aunt alter it to make it short and fit in with their theme. To literally top it off Danielle found a top hat veil off etsy.com to complete her outfit. And instead of flowers Danielle made pin wheel balls for her bridesmaids and made a small bouquet of flowers for herself.
So when their day finally arrived it was a very stormy, windy day. We had planned to do their first look at Kerry Park then do the rest of the family & bridal party photos there too but due to the wind we just did their first look then headed over to the Leif Erikson Lodge to do the photos. Jake wanted to always keep the day fun and lighthearted so after I finished with my serious or pretty poses he always said let’s do a fun one. For their ceremony they decided to do a couple different things, their grandmother’s as their flower girls & to keep things fun instead of a traditional unity ceremony with a candle or sand they did a unity cocktail, then drank their mixture after mixing them together in a drink shaker. After their personal vows to each other they were official walking back down the aisle to “Everything is Awesome”! For the reception they had Dante’s Inferno Dogs food carts for the catering and two signature cocktails. The decor was very fitting of a carnival, games, picture cutout, balloons, cotton candy, popcorn and lots of colorful decorations. Danielle & Jake are also big movie buffs so every table had a movie title for the name and of course the head table was “The Princess Bride.” And all the napkins had quotes from their favorite movies or tv shows. Danielle was so excited to have the cotton candy machine since during high school she worked at the Seattle Center making cotton candy for customers, so I got a ring shot in cotton candy!
During their first dance they had all the guest circle around them and you could just feel the love. Their song “Storybook Love” from the Princess Bride was a perfect for everyone to start swaying around them. After that it was time to get down and party including lots of dancing and even a conga line!
Danielle & Jake are planning an epic trip for their Honeymoon to sell all their stuff and travel around the world! To follow their story check out their blog: Snap, Scribbles And Suitcases they are planning to set out for their adventure in March of 2017!
