A photographers dream is to have a client who understands photography. Well my bride Danielle is a photographer also (La Vie Moments) who I met while at a meet up of the Cool Clicks over a year ago. We had stayed in touch via Facebook but hadn’t met up since our first meeting.
Danielle and her fiance Jake actual had mutual friends and met at a party. They were dating for over 2 years before Jake popped the question to Danielle by sending her poems all day via email and that night as he walked her home from work he gave her the final poem which ended with the proposal. Oh course Danielle said yes!
So when it came time to start planning their big day Jake and Danielle decided to have a fun theme. When they told me this theme I got super excited “vintage carnival” I mean come on who wouldn’t be excited about a theme like this! So then we got to talking about their engagement session and we decided if we could do it a fair that would be even better! Well lucky for us the Washington State Fair does a weekend spring fair in April. All we had to worry about the weather, man did we luck out! The weather reached almost 70 degrees that day so it was such a prefect warm spring evening. We started at some games, a little skeet ball where Danielle won a toy for Jake. One of Danielle’s requests besides having their engagement session at the Washington State Fair was doing some photos with cotton candy. Danielle worked at the Seattle Center in high school and her main job was making cotton candy. We found an amazing place right in front of the big wooden roller coaster to catch the last of the sun before it dipped down. After that we headed over to the Ferris Wheel for some more fun photos then a few more games & finally it was time for my request a few long exposure shots. Of course Danielle & Jake were all for that and were great sports while I messed around with my camera settings, I’m beyond excited for Danielle & Jake’s vintage carnival themed fall wedding in West Seattle.
To date this was my longest engagement session 3 hours in all but so worth it, these photos are a prefect example of why I love doing engagement sessions of my wedding couples and how they can bring out a couples’ personality. In the end engagement photos should be fun!

EEK! Love this wonderfully colorful and fun carnival engagement session! I love your use of the sunset to capture the beauty of sometimes not so pretty carnival rides and games. The couple seemed to be having so much fun…and all sugared up! How fun and great job on this session!!!
