Orcas Island Wedding

One of my favorite places in Washington State is Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands. Last month I got the wonderful honor of photographing Genevieve & Dan’s wedding at Victorian Valley Chapel & reception at the Odd Fellow’s Hall in Eastsound on Orcas Island. Orcas Island has the best of both worlds your on the beautiful Puget Sound but you have a mountain and the highest point in all of the San Juan Islands which gives you some amazing views of this beautiful part of the Pacific Northwest.

Genevieve & Dan’s wedding ceremony was at the Victorian Valley Chapel which is this super cute old white one room chapel in the middle of a meadow. Because of the size of their guest list the actual wedding was outside right next to the chapel but we did some amazing photos of the two of them inside, some of my favorites! It was actually a pretty warm day so having the wedding outside still was warm but it would have been pretty miserable if it had been inside on this almost 90 degree day.

Genevieve and Dan decide to do a first look so they could enjoy their guest after the ceremony back at Odd Fellow’s hall. Their first look we did the bridal party & family photos, then it was time for the ceremony. Genevieve’s maiden name is Scottish decent so Dan & Genevieve’s brother wore her families tartans plaid and had bagpipes before, during and after their ceremony. Genevieve & Dan were actually already married a year earlier but really wanted to share their ceremony with their friends and family that couldn’t attend a year earlier. So they said their same vows and had Dan’s brother officiating. It was a beautiful ceremony and such a great a great way to let their friends and family celebrate their marriage.
