I have known Theresa since High School. Last August she contacted me to take engagement photos of herself & fiance Corey. He was going to be home for leave from Afghanistan and she wanted to get her engagement photos done for their save the dates. After we did their beautiful engagement session they decide to hire me for their wedding day! I was so excited to kick off my 2015 wedding seasons with a Red Barn Studios wedding in Chehalis, Washington. When we met to talk about their wedding day back in October Theresa expressed to me that their wedding would have a rustic and country feel since the venue is a giant red barn! She also wanted to do a sparkler send off which was a first for me but super excited to do that!
Flash forward to Theresa & Corey’s big day a beautiful March spring day, that’s right we lucked out with partly cloudy skies no rain this fine wedding day. When Sabra & I arrived the guys were ready to go but the girls still needed to get dressed which was great because I love doing getting ready shots especially when everyone is getting into their dresses. While I was doing the girls getting ready Sabra got some great photos of Corey & his groomsmen and Corey gave his groomsmen these awesome bullet bottle openers I of course used Corey’s for their ring shots! This time can also be a very emotional time especially when the bride is getting in her dress for the first time with her hair and makeup done. Theresa’s something blue was very special, a piece of her dad’s shirt who she had passed in 2008. Theresa had expressed to me that she would be giving Corey’s 3 daughters each a necklace and saying a little speech to them and really wanted me to document that. Let’s just say there wasn’t a dry eye in the room including myself. It was so special for me to witness this, Theresa wasn’t just gaining a husband but also 3 beautiful daughters! After we all dried our eyes it was time for Corey to see Theresa for the first time!
I love first looks, not only do you get to see the groom see his bride for the first time but it’s so intimate just us and the bride and groom! We decide to do theirs right in front of the Barn! After their photos we got into the bridal party, family then it was time for the ceremony! A short and sweet simple ceremony which was perfect. We had some time to do some more photos during the cocktail hour which was amazing the light was wonderful! The reception was kicked off by the bridal party being introduced then time for Mr & Mrs first dance one of my favorites “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran. (I have a feeling this will be the song of 2015!) After some delicious food and mingling it was time for the speeches. Theresa’s cousin Alexis was her maid of honor and gave such a sweet speech. Then it was Corey’s best man Josh his childhood best friend. Josh’s speech was amazing probably the best I have heard ever! He even got the room to give Corey a standing applause recognizing Corey’s military service, then got the entire room doing a “Sea Hawk” chant giving Theresa credit for making him a Seahawks fan. Next was Theresa’s Aunts doing a “rap” it was super funny and one of her Aunts would do a random beat box sound. After the important dances then it was time to party, I did pull Theresa & Corey away for a few photos with sparklers then dancing and the night was almost over just that sparkler send off!
It was an amazing day and such a great way to kick of my 2015 wedding season! I really am looking forward to all my weddings this year if they are all like this I think 2015 is going to be an epic year for Jenny Storment Photography!

You captured all the emotions and details perfectly, and how special is it that you were able to be there for a friend you’ve had since high school? This was definitely a good way to start off your wedding season. I can’t wait to see more of the weddings you document this year!
