In April I headed down to Abiqua Falls outside Portland Oregon with a group of photographers from a Facebook group called: Wanderlust NW Weddings by J.M.Hunter Photography for a super fun bridal styled shoot. In all there were 3 models an engaged couple who were our bride and groom & a very beautiful young lady who was another bride alone. There was 7 photographers in all so having two different setups was very helpful. The day of the shoot we all met at a town outside Portland what we thought was a centrally located place near Abiqua Falls. Boy were we wrong, in an age where most people rely on GPS via their phones to get around in this case our GPS failed us big time. We all ended up getting lost for 3 hours on the wrong side of the falls on some very random logging roads. After ending up on an active logging road we found out that we were on the wrong side of the falls and needed to back track to find the correct way.
After stopping for gas and getting some snacks and the right directions we started our journey. And let me tell you it was a white knuckle journey. Once you find the right directions to Abiqua fall its pretty clear but a very rough road. Even though the directions state a family size sedan car can make it I wouldn’t recommend it especially if your car has low profile tires (I would recommend a car that is all wheel or 4 wheel drive with good tires). Once we parked we started down the very steep at time travel including ropes to help you down the hill-side. Then at the bottom he had to follow the travel along the river till we reached the amazing very zen Abiqua Falls! Once we got started we only had about an hour to shoot so it was a little crazy for that hour but totally amazing and I’m so glad we kept pushing forward and made it to Abiqua Falls. I hope to return to Abiqua Falls again for another shoot of my own. If any one is interested please contact me directly and I would love to go back again for a different shoot.
A special thanks to Jessica Hunter of J.M. Hunter Photography for organizing this amazing shoot and our models Janelle & Michael and Morgan.

What a cute wedding setup, who wouldn’t want to have their wedding photos in front of a waterfall? Perhaps this could also be a great “trash the dress” location.
Oh my goodness Abiqua Falls is absolutely gorgeous!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a waterfall that full. Everyone did such an amazing job on this styled bridal shoot!
Oh my gosh! I live near Portland and haven’t been to Abiqua Falls. It is so pretty and what a perfect place for a styled wedding shoot.
These Abiqua Falls portraits are PERFECT! Beautiful sessions!
What a beautiful location for a Bridal Session!! Your portraits of the bride and groom are just stunning!! I couldn’t help but giggled when you mentioned about GPS because it has happened to me before and my husband always blames it on my “error” so you touched a sweet spot when you mentioned this!! I also think meeting other photographer’s in your area is a great opportunity to make new friends , you do share the same passion!!
Sounds like a crazy adventure, but so worth the trouble to have Abiqua Falls in the background of these portraits! Such a beautiful styled wedding shoot!
