Mount Rainier Wedding

Weddings

**DISCLAIMER** While talking and describing this Mount Rainier Wedding I may use the following words excessively: Perfect, Amazing, Beautiful, Unreal and Epic. I make no apologies for the excessive use of these words as this Mount Rainier Wedding was all of these things. And I will take no offense if you decide to skip all my very long writings about this wedding and go straight to the pretty, pretty pictures. You have been warned….

Let’s start at the beginning and talk about that ONE how the couple found me and TWO how amazing it felt when they hired me. So there are a few different ways people find me, either through Google, Word of Mouth or Social Media like Facebook or Instagram. So when I got contacted by Brett & Lauren that found me off Instagram I got very excited because Instagram is full of photographers and if you can stand out to a couple looking for their wedding photographer it’s a huge compliment in my eyes and I get very honored. Next was the fact that once they found out I was available for their Mount Rainier wedding they were ready to book me. This is another huge thing in my world, I don’t blame anyone for meeting with multiple photographers because it’s a huge investment and you HAVE to connect with your photographer. But when you have a couple who is excited to work with you and ready to book it’s just such a wonderful feeling to have as a photographer.

Next, we started planning their engagement session since their actual wedding was on a mountain they decided that doing their engagement session closer to home was a better idea which also turned out amazing. Lately, I have been having these couples who tell me they need tons of direction when they are in front of the camera but once they are there they are just naturals and I have to give very little direction. Lauren and Brett were this way and I love so many of their photos from their Seattle Engagement Session.

OK so about a week and a half before their wedding I had planned a little shoot up at Mount Rainier for myself and the day before that shoot we had a shift in our weather and the wind brought down horrible smoke from British Columbia made the entire state of Washington hazy and smokey. When I was planning for this shoot I had Brett & Lauren’s wedding in the back of my head and plan to do some scouting and test some locations as a practice for their big day. I had hoped that the smoke would be lower than Paradise but sadly it wasn’t and all I could do was hope that the weather and the wind would change again and clear out the smoke before their wedding. As their wedding got closer the clear skies kept getting pushed back to closer and closer to the day, but thankfully everything worked out perfectly day of and the smoke was gone and Mount Rainier was out in all her glory.

The plan was that we would meet at their cabins they were staying at and do their first look then drive up the mountain to do their bride and groom portraits then head back to Longmire at a very random spot but epic locations for their intimate ceremony with close friends and family then head to a nearby restaurant for dinner and cake. When I got to the cabin day of Lauren was still getting ready so I went to scout out a location for their first look and man did I find a perfect one. Right next to the cabin was a creek with a perfect clearing area where there was enough room for their first look. I had Brett facing the water and so when Lauren came down to reveal her dress Brett was speechless and we had this perfect location for that beautiful moment.

Next, we headed into the park. To let the couple enjoy their day I offered to drive so that I could pull off in places I had scouted and not worry about having them follow me or try to park their car off the side of the road. Our first location was in the trees right after you entered Mount Rainier, National Park. The couple told me they wanted photos in the trees then up closer to the top at Paradise and the surrounding area. The week before I had looked for a good spot that would be easy to access from the road which I found and we got some amazing photos to start off their portraits. So after being in the trees we started to head up the mountain, we had gotten a little bit of a late start and so we decided to skip one location and go to my secret spot I had found the week before which was epic and Mount Rainier looked unreal with even a cloud cap on it. Those photos we got in my secret spot are probably my favorite out of many favorites from their day. And at this point, I think was so giddy with excitement that I had probably used the word “perfect” too much and we weren’t even close to being done.

After my secret spot we had just enough time to head to Myrtle Falls, Brett & Lauren really wanted some photos of the falls I have to admit I was a little concerned with parking, crowds and even the light but EVERYTHING kept working out perfectly and even though we were a little behind we still managed to be fine time-wise. All the lighting was working out in our favor including the parking and crowds at Paradise. Lauren was even jumped the rope in her dress and climbed a huge rock to get these amazing photos at Myrtle Falls with Rainier in the background.

Once we were done at the top and at Paradise we raced back down to Longmire to meet everyone for their ceremony. The couple had invited just their family and a few close friends to be part of their wedding ceremony at an awesome, very random spot in Longmire next to the Nisqually River and a parking lot. After their short but sweet ceremony, it was official and they were Mr & Mrs! After a few more photos we headed back down out of the park to the Copper Creek Inn for dinner and cake!

This Mount Rainier wedding what some photographers dream about getting, a beautiful couple, a beautiful flowy dress and a perfect day with Mount Rainier in the background. I am literally speechless looking at these photos and I will try not to share EVERY. SINGLE. PHOTO. but there are so many beautiful, EPIC photos I have to share. Congratulations to the Brett & Lauren and thank you again for letting me be part of your amazing wedding!
